“Méoujo” means the honey coloured river in provençal language and the river flows 40km from west to east along the valley crossing a valley of exceptional landscapes, alpine grasslands, wild ridges of Chabre and ending in the deep Gorges de la Méouge. The Gorges are located 20 minutes on bike, or a short drive, from Serre Des Ormes and in the summer they are popular with both bathers and walkers.

The picturesque citadel town of Sisteron is known as the “pearl of Provence” and is situated on banks of the Durance river which forges it’s way through the natural gaps in the hills. It is located on the scenic route Napoleon and is the gateway between Provence to the south and the Dauphine to the north. It is well worth exploring it’s narrow streets and numerous cafes, either on a rest day or during a ride. The town is particularly spectacular in the evening when the citadel and rocks are lit up.
